Volunteer with the Aboriginal Student Services Centre!
Volunteering is a great way to get involved with campus. It provides an opportunity to give back to your campus community and to make new friends along the way.
The Aboriginal Student Services Centre (ASSC) is always looking for volunteers for many different events and programs on campus, such as:
University of Alberta’s Annual Open House
Every year ASSC welcomes prospective Aboriginal students to campus, and helps explain the supports and services available to all Aboriginal students on campus. Learn more about the Annual Open House.
University of Alberta’s Annual Round Dance
Every year ASSC hosts the Annual University of Alberta Round Dance, which is a community event that welcomes all guests to campus. The Round Dance is hosted at the end of January and welcomes all volunteers for a variety of duties. Learn more about the Annual Round Dance.
Every year at the end of August, ASSC hosts the annual 2 day Bridges Orientation, which welcomes all “New to U” Aboriginal students to campus. During this 2 day orientation, volunteers help with an variety of duties, such as registration, helping with BBQ, and being a part of a student panel — to give the new students tips on being a successful student. Learn more about Bridge Orientation.
Every year, the Office of the Senate welcomes students from Edmonton and surrounding area to take part in U School. Students from grades 4 to 9 are given the opportunities to learn about different programs on campus.
U School works with classroom teachers to develop a week-long experience related to learning objectives and expose students to things unique to the U of A. Learn more about U School.
